"Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin, a Great Drum Intro by John Bonham

Charles Connor & John Bonham

My Great Web page

John Bonham's classic drum intro in "Rock and Roll" (on Led Zeppelin's 1971 fourth album) was influenced by the drum part played by Charles Connor in Little Richard's 1957 song "Keep a Knockin'". Listen to how similar the intros are! Years ago, I was subbing at a music school and taught a drum lesson to one of Charles' nieces and it was also a lesson for me since I asked questions about Charles.
